Make a stop at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge for your family to experience an adventure in a preserved area of over nine thousand acres covering beaches, woodlands and even marshlands. One of its attractions is the site of some migratory birds coming in different varieties. As a matter of fact more than 10,000 snow geese and ducks visit and take refuge in Back Bay during fall migration. Endangered species including loggerhead sea turtles, piping plovers, peregrine falcons and bald eagles are also sheltered in the National Wildlife Refuge.
Walking or biking around the National Refuge is also a delightful activity where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and admire the different kinds of animal life around the area. Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge also offers educational tours in the site. You can bring your own gears and stuff for some adventure and in some events, you may also take a tram tour to explore the whole area.
The Visitor Contract Station is open from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. every weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 4:00 P.M. every weekends. They are also closed every Saturdays, from November through March.
